Lucy Johnson, Education & Training Partner
Lucy is a Media Studies Teacher with over ten years of classroom experience. She also works as a ‘Virtual Teacher’ for the charity ‘Red Balloon of the Air’ supporting children who have been excluded from traditional education. She founded deuteron ltd in 2009 wanting to bring a creative approach to teaching with digital technology into schools – and since then has partnered with The Worst Kept Secret.
With TWKS, she is focused on building the competence, comfort and confidence of secondary school teachers to use digital and social media across all aspects of the curriculum to better engage pupils and deliver ‘outstanding’ teaching. She gained her Bachelors degree in Film and Video from The London College of Communication. Her first professional role was as a Producer in a film co-operative based in Spitalfields. Since then her accomplishments have included working as a Script Reader for a movie producer and authoring a book on film-making for the British Film Institute. She then moved into teaching as a Media Studies specialist. Whilst teaching, she completed her Masters degree in Cultural Studies at Goldsmith’s College. With her growing interest in digital media, she wrote her dissertation on education and technology. She worked for ten years at Bishop Challoner School in the East End of London at Key Stage 4 and 5 delivering both the vocational and academic curriculum.
