Facebook Tip: Turn off Event Notifications

Event invites are fast becoming the new junk mail, this tip will help you clean up your Facebook. Here’s how it’s done:

The Method – Stop all Event Notifications

Skill Level: Basic

Time taken: 30 seconds

Who for: Facebook users

What to do:

  1. Log onto Facebook
  2. Go on to the page of an event that you have been invited to.
  3. On the top-right of your screen you will have the option to RSVP. Click on the gear symbol next to this (if you have selected ‘Not Going’ the gear symbol will not appear)
  4. Click ‘Turn off Notifications’

So What?: Turning off event notifications can prevent your Facebook home screen from becoming cluttered with junk posts. By selecting to not receive event notifications, you will have a more personalised space where you are not bombarded with posts you don’t care about. Remember, turning these notifications off means that you won’t receive notifications about ANY events, so please bear that in mind when making your choice!.
